JanP Posted October 19, 2010 Share Posted October 19, 2010 My partner's Focus (abt 8 yrs old) had this problem for a few weeks on and off - the speed needle would drop to zero then pick up again but it was only for a few minutes or so. It was very intermittent -usually when I was driving up Granville Road so I thought it was a loose connection to do with the angle travelling uphill. In the end the battery light was on permanently too although the car was starting and running ok. A new alternator was the rather costly diagnosis.
