Conservatives to make women more equal

Recommended Posts

Well, there's nothing new in the Conservatives making women more equal.

Margaret Thatcher had more balls than most of her opponents.:hihi:

You're sure right, the problem was though she just made female equality an exception for herself.

I think the retirement age for women should be higher than men.

Most women have less demanding jobs.

Us poor blokes will be worn out before we hit 50 nevermind 66. What the stupid politicians have failed to realise is that not everyone is sat at a desk all their working lives. What about the heavy manual jobs that people have to do?

There would be a good reason to introduce this policy. Female life expectancy at birth is 4.4 years higher than for men, at age 65 it is 2.6 years higher.

This leads to increased costs for looking after women in their retirement.

And to think that the French are protesting about the increase to 62!

The French are still where we were forty years ago; they face imminent bankrupcty without radical changes, but they refuse to change.

Quite likely, they'll end up where we did in the early 80s, after we HAD gone bankrupt and "refusal to change" became irrelevant. Also, quite likely, as it did here, it'll hurt ten times more for having put it off so long than it would have done if they'd dealt with it sensibly to begin with.

You wanna work until you're 80?

Besides, how will the youth get into the job market if the old people have all the jobs?

x

whats that got to do with it? I said as we live longer sure we should work longer (than men)

Thes same as if we live to a grander age we should work longer.

So looking at it the other way, should smokers (who are likely to die earlier) be encouraged to retire a few years earlier? ;)

And to think that the French are protesting about the increase to 62! At this rate, it will have been raised to 70 by the time that I retire, that's if the state pension is still universal.

What's the average retirement age in Greece? - Is it up to 56 yet?

How does this 'universal' state pension work? - I thought that to receive a State Pension, the individual had to have paid into the scheme for 40 years. What will happen when those immigrants who arrived in the UK after their 26th birthday hit retirement age? - They won't have paid 40 years contributions.

Anybody who hasn't paid all the necessary contributions gets a scaled down pension, based on how many years they have paid in.
