If the average family has 2.4 children, that's around £2,250 per person. He's actually not that far out. Of course, he's not comparing it to any other cost; the cost of our defence budget, at least 50% of which we haven't needed to spend in the last fifty years, is almost ten times as high as our foreign aid budget.
