Hubble Deep Field: The most important image ever taken

Recommended Posts

Greetings.

Thought some might be interested in this video, it has been doing the rounds for a while but it has now been rendered into 3D and it may not have caught your attention. If you like space, physics, the ideas behind the creation of our universe or just plain cool things which make you think then have a look at the video below. You will not be disappointed.

Amazing isn't it. Watching that, it strikes me that there must surely be some other life out there somewhere, intelligent or not, there is still an awful lot for humanity to discover. And also that the universe simply wouldn't notice if we accidentally wiped ourselves out.

Looking at things like that we owe it to our selves to survive as long as possible as a race and sort out our act. The universe deserves to be observed, We are after all made up from the very elements that it is made up of, we are for all we know the most intelligent product of its existence.

It would be a real shame if we screwed it all up and didn't go on to learn as much as there is to know, even if the knowledge only ever stayed with us and we didn't find more life to hand it over to and share it with.

Such infinite complexity, and a race so young with much to learn...i hope one day we can move past our differences and go towards those stars as a unified race.

How very true. If we survive long enough to spill out onto and colonise other planets (as there will eventually be too many of us to fit on earth,) or long enough for another race to come and say hello and really make us think about our place in the universe then I think all is not lost for us as a species.

Once this happens then it will be fair to assume we will survive.

Yeah, but could we lick the Borg?

Conjures many scary thoughts of Blade Runner and 3 Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch, (Both books by P. Dick). Colonising another planet will be an unbelievably daunting task...

Many thanks for the link though...
