wotsits
 and you don't even know them. I mean in the context of a debate, or when you disagree with someone and they resort to love. Talking down type way.
HeadingNorth
Why would anyone hate it? They're not declaring they are in love with you, merely using a generic term of address. You might as well complain that people call you "sir" when you've never been knighted.

wotsits
It makes me shudder with anger. I hate being called love. Maybe it is a friendly term here I don't know. It rattles me and makes me feel talked down to. I mean whoever calls it me, it has the same response.

I am sure you have things you dislike. I have lived here since I was a child and it still grates on me now when someone calls me love, either in an argument or trying to talk me round.
