Erin
I currently drive a small van due to my work. I recently decided an estate car would be more ideal and more comfortable. When i checked with my insurer they will not swap policy over. They also say i will have to start a fresh on the estate car ie loose my full no claims bonus on the van even though i would be using the estate car for the same purpose. When i did a quote on the estate car it was three times more than the van. I presume this is because im forced into starting from scratch again. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks for reading and any replys.
mike84
It could be that your policy on the van will be a commercial one. They might not be able to swap to a different policy. Usually you can transfer no claims over though.
megalithic
Yup, i've had this but the other way round, wanting to swap insurance from a car to a van, the company didn't insure commercials so i had to start a new policy. The company my van is insured with only do commercials to so no chance of swapping it to a car. didn't make any difference to me though as i already had full no claims.
