Vulcan XH558 future in doubt

Recommended Posts

I don't think we'll agree on the role of the V Bombers, but I will agree with you on the funding. They can't continue to lurch from one funding crises to another, it can't be sustained. They definately need a long term funding stratagy to secure it's future.

It might not be authentic and true to the original colour scheme, but how about allowing the tail fin to be branded by one of the sponsors. The spotters would be up in arms though.

I agree with you, it needs a real, long-term sponsor. It doesn't really matter if it gets painted bright orange and is called "easy-vulcan" as the paint needs renewing every 5/10 years at most, and it can revert to an RAF scheme later.

as someone who works at the airport i plan on getting some up close pics aswell, will put on here when i do!

Nice one! many thanks

I guessed you must work there as it would have been a stroke of luck if you were just passing through at the right time!

Look forwards to some more pictures!

Will the airport drop a few bob in the bag?

Don't worry about painting the tail. Would the spotters like to see it with a sponsor or not see it at all?

The new owners Vancouver Airport Services decided to bring the Vulcan back to Doncaster, the previous owners were not so bothered, as to the deal they have I do not know, I would assume they will be paying for it to be maintained to a certain level and the Vulcan To The Sky people will be paying some aswell

With them having a Spitfire there also (not sure for how long) it seems the new owners are trying to make some money out of the heritage of the Airport site, which will only benefit the people interested in these things and the local community

Think the plan is for the Vulcan to fly on about 20 seperate occasions this year so there's plenty of opportunity to see it
