js2012
So assuming i pass ill be looking for a car pretty soon. I got a couple of kids, ill use it for work, it needs to be reasonably new and the insurance must be cheap. What are my options? Thanks (incase anyone asks, i mean after all this is Sheffield forum, what are my options for a decent care filling the above criteria)

Mondeo Man
How cheap the insurance will be depends on your age, sex and postcode. In my case, my age is "ancient", and sex is "very infrequently"

In my case, my age is "ancient", and sex is "very infrequently" Oh! Same here! Google car insurance groups and see what comes up. Dont forget that some groups are based on 1-20 groups and the more modern system is based on 1-50 groups. Vauxhall Corsa's 1 litre are group 2 (1-50) but struggle on Sheffield hills as any 1 litre car would. If you can afford a bit more go for at least a 1.2 ltr model. You will also find that the latest model are a lower insurance bracket than the previous model due to more safety features being added.
