Vague_Boy
Surprised that the "usual suspects" haven't posted this yet. Perhaps because it doesn't involve Nick Clegg? Harman says sorry for 'ginger rodent' comment Ms Harman, Labour's deputy leader, admitted she had been "wrong" to use the description during a speech at the Scottish Labour conference in Oban. She also called the Liberal Democrat "the front-man for the Tory cuts". Her remarks were attacked for being anti-Scottish, given that 13 per cent of Scots have red hair compared with just 2 per cent of the population globally. For his part, Mr Alexander insisted he was not ashamed of his colouring. "I am proud to be ginger and rodents do valuable work cleaning up mess others leave behind," he said via Twitter. No, it's no biggie in the scheme of things...BUT can you imagine if we had said it at a high profile conference?I think it's the same old same old, rules are different depending who you are ! harvey19
A comment made as a joke and taken seriously by some. I find it pathetic the way people nowadays are accused of commiting hate crime, labelled sexist, racist or whatever. We are all different , have different backgrounds and so have different perceptions of people and the world. Live and let live. If comments are made as insults they should be regarded as such. Steptoad
Nice bit of spin for the rodents though. Maybe we should encourage the rat population a bit more.
boyfriday
..totally imbecilic thing to say. Danny Alexander is fair game, but not because of his appearance, nor is it right to put redheads in a negative light by referring to his hair colour as a means of criticising him. Another example of a politician speaking before engaging the brain.
