pattricia
I accidently brushed against some white gloss paint the other day,and got some of the paint on my new fleece. I got the paint off with turps. But couldnt get rid of the smell of turps. Ive soaked the fleece in cold water with Bicarbonate of Soda in, and rinsed it numerous times and hung it on the line outside, BUT it still smells of turps. I would have liked to put it in the automatic washer on its own in a pre-wash , then a full wash, but Ive done this before with other clothes, and the washer smells of turps for ages afterwards. Has anyone got any ideas , how to get rid of the smell ? Maybe some professional Decorators out there would know. I will be back late today to see if I have any reples. Plain Talker
*gross* it will smell of the turps, as it's an oil, and doesn't dissolve into the water .
medusa
The only way to remove the turps is to use another solvent to dilute it. Have you tried having it dry cleaned?

No, but I will give it a try, medusa. If it was an old fleece I would throw it away, but its a new one.

AJ sheffield
I wouldnt bother, fleeces are dirt cheap anyway, unless it is a Berghaus or North Face.
Treatment
Cat litter can eradicate a lot of smells, but with it being oil based it may be a problem.
