Bassman62
74% re offend so they're either too stupid or out and out criminals neither of which should be allowed the vote. For those who say prison isn't a deterent I say make it a deterent where offenders don't want to return to.
nightrider
Nobody's ever produced a good argument for not giving them the vote. ("It's disgusting!" is not an argument.) what if the prison is in a marginal constituency. Then there would be an incentive for the candidates to promise to go easier on sentencing for example. Conrod
Having given up the right to live within society due to their lawless conduct why should they have a say in that society? To sensible, level-headed, law-abiding taxpayers, the answer would probably be that they should have no such right. However, there is a loud minority who want to stand up for the 'rights' of all just for the sake of it, no matter how wicked or worthless the people are that they choose to support. Swan_Vesta
I'm sure that these incidents are the actions of responsible voters who are fit to make a contribution towards the political decisions. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-11692208

Would the offence the prisoner has committed have any impact upon whether you would allow them the vote? Honest question.
