Dreams of lifts going sideways

Recommended Posts

Dreams are like problem solving and information sifting processes, sorting out the crap of daily life and how you feel about things. Everyone knows the value of sleeping on a problem and waking up with a resolution or answer. Even if you don't remember or analyse the dreaming, the process still does a job. I've gained an enormous amount of insight and become much more aware of things I didn't want to admit since recording my Dreams. And as I said before, although dream meanings have a reputation for being obscure and crackpot, most of the symbolism in dreams is surprisingly literal, sometimes to the point of cliche. That's because the metaphors and symbols run throughout the culture, the language, through mythology and the expressive arts. It can be very useful when you get the hang of it, but even if people ignore their dreams, their experiences and motivations are being processed nonetheless.

Totally agree Purdy.

I know people are sceptical that dreams 'mean something'......but in sleep is when the brain files and sorts life experiences, babies 'learn' during sleep, we resolve/fathom out/deconstruct issues.

It is true that sleeping on a problem helps us to find answers.

The brain is an amazing complicated organ.

When I've looked back at the images and stories my dreams tell me, I can see that they are quite representative of what's happening in my life, particularly when I was having a bit of a rough patch with a marriage break-up, and a job change.

Dreams still do not actually mean anything though in much the same way me day dreaming and thinking of for example, a blue hippo, means nothing.

It’s a dream, it’s your brain processing information, but your dreams do not mean anything and do not have a real world connection.

Like Lilpiglet says, "[dreams] are quite representative of what's happening in my life". This is what has happened in the past and nothing more then memory.

I've had quite a few dreams of lifts that go up then sideways, but last night this lift I was in did a full rotation! I had a full shopping trolley too but none of it fell out! :o

Does anybody else have dreams where lifts go sideways? And what does it mean (if anything)?

You are not alone....

I've had that dream many times too - and my lift also goes around corners at speed [feels like a fairground ride].

I never think dreams mean anything - just a brain dump of thoughts.

Dreams really fascinate me & it's interesting that some people have the same sort of dreams. .

In a highly globalised world, with brands that cross the globe and the mass consumption of media, is it any wonder we have similar dreams especially with those in close proximity to you. Now if you had the same cream as a fisherman living in rural India, that would be more eye opening but then when you consider the number of people on the planet, there is every chance you will have the same dream as others.
