Converting a 5 seater into a 7 seater car

Recommended Posts

we have a volvo estate that has a proper factory fitted bench type seat which is rear facing. It folds down and the floor reveals a foot well and is really cool but only suitable for small children really. The rear window and boot area is reinforced for safety and you really must bear this in mind. If you convert it yourself will the back door etc be strong enough if there was an accident???? peugeot do a similar car aswell with the convertable seats in the back. maybe looking to exchange your car would be the better and safer option. The seats disappear when not inuse leaving a massive boot area x hope this helps

Indeed, your Volvo is 'built for purpose'. Wouldn't have wanted my kids in the back of any car sat in the boot though?

If you install a third row of seats yourself, you have to fit appropriate seat belts and the insurance company may have something to say converting a 5 seat to a seven seater, they will know it has been modified?

Just buy a Zafira, good and car and they are cheap enough these days?
