I keep saying Christianity is the teaching of Jesus.

Despite Hitler's rhetoric he clearly did not follow Jesus and murdered millions.

are you claiming that if you do anything in your life that is against what is said in the bible (which bible?) then you are not a christian? I know hitler is an extreme example but that appears to be what you are suggesting?

Did the pope not order the burning of heretics? In that case are you suggesting that that pope was not christian?

As plekhanov pointed out to you the other day, your definition of the word 'Christian' changes all the time to suit whichever argument you are trying to make.

"If the Xians in question are are perpetrators your definition comes over all 'no true scotsman' however if the Xians are victims your definition suddenly becomes rather broad."

In any case, even if you were consistent the 'no true scotsman' argument is a fallacy. Hitler was just as Christian as you, you may think he's not as good of a christian as you, but that's a different point.

What the Pope did was clearly in opposition to both the Ten Commandments and the teaching of Jesus which he obviously rejected. He then introduced his own misguided version of Christianity.

It would be the equivalent of David Beckham rejecting the rules of the FA and making up his own rules. Few people would call it soccer.

Being a Christian means following the teaching of Jesus, not Charles Taze Russell or Joseph Smith.

Firstly, most people don't call it soccer anyway, what kind of an Englishman are you?

Secondly, the rules of football have changed immeasurably since it was first played. They didn't even used to have goals, let alone the fact that there are still changes being made to subtle things like offside and such, and things like substitutions.

There used to be different numbers of players, people used to be able to use their hands, etc.

Much like Christianity, football has evolved and changed alongside society.

As I said to Plekhanov, being a Scotsmen depends on where you are born and what you do is irrelevant.

Being a Christian is dependent on following Jesus.

The proper name is Soccer to distinguish it from Rugby Football. :)

ADDED.

Yes the rules of Soccer have changed but the teaching of Jesus remains constant.

Rightly or wrongly, and like most other religions, the interpretation of religious believers doesn't remain constant.

The words of Jesus may not have changed but how they are interpreted certainly has, also which parts people ignore have changed over time.

Tell me, how can you afford a computer when you've given away all of your wealth to charity? You have done that right?
