Netherlands lifts smoking ban!

Recommended Posts

Produce one shred of evidence that smoking small amounts does not damage health. You can't because it is an outright lie.

Can you provide any evidence linking the smoking ban with your claims below?

Apart from 3 and 6

It seems there is no end to the advantages gained since smoking was banned in public places.

1 The public health has imporoved

2 The number of places where the public can get a drink has increased

3 The places no longer stink of stale smoke

4 The Chancellor is collecting extra revenue

5 The consumption of cigarettes has fallen

6 It gets right up Bonzo's nose :D:D:D:D

Everyones a winner.

in responce to your quotes 2and 4 how do you work that out when (a) more pubs have closed so reducing more places where people can get a drink :huh:and (B)if more pubs are closing down and the sales of cigarettes has fallen how is the chancellor collecting more revenue

Scots smoke ban 'improved health'

Cigarette stubbing out

Brian Taylor's blog

The Scottish smoking ban has led to a significant advance in public health, the most detailed scientific study of the measure so far has suggested.

Comparisons at nine hospitals revealed that there was a 17% year-on-year drop in heart attack admissions since the ban was introduced in March 2006.

It said the quality of air in pubs is now equivalent to that found outdoors.

Exposure to second-hand smoke north of the border is down by 40% among adults and children, the study added.

The findings will be presented to an international conference in Edinburgh on the ban organised by the Scottish Government.

Cigarette sales fell sharply last month following the introduction of the smoking ban in England and Wales.

Just over three billion cigarettes were bought by British smokers in July, marking a seven per cent drop in sales, according to consumer research group AC Nielsen.

see you in tesco for a pint then shall we :hihi:

I think you will find that the number of clubs, cafe/bars and licenced restaurants opening far outweighs any closure of pubs. Try taking a walk up West Street, Division Street or any other main street in town. Virtually every building is now a cafe/bar. And it is great to enjoy a beer or a coffee, eat a wrap and not have to breathe secondhand smoke.

They nearly all have plate glass windows so the smokers can stand outside and look through the windows at folk enjoying themselves inside.:D

Increase in revenue from alcohol sales

increase in revenue from alcohol retailing premises licences (very expensive)

Increase in corporation tax from businesses selling alcohol, food, coffee etc.

Increase in revenue from personal alcohol selling licences
