JOHN HABS
Anyone agree with me that America has a lot to answer for ? Fads that have found their way into UK which cause annoyance to other people: Teens on skateboards:on the pavements, you have to dart out of the way to avoid being hit, on the road.....you have to brake to avoid hitting them. Halloween: Your trying to settle down to watch TV and there's knocking at the house door for most of the evening and the security light is going on and off. Hooded tops: teens hanging around on street corners with hood pulled up covering their faces..........intimidating ! Burgers: everywhere you go there's a burger bar to be seen. Strix
I think we should ship them all our non-biodegradable burger clam-shells too

HeadingNorth
Halloween is NOT American. True, but the trick-or-treating and other paraphernalia that goes with it now, is almost entirely an American import. In many parts of England it meant nothing, and was ignored in favour of Guy Fawkes' Night.
Sierra
Why don't you just turn off the lights in the front of the house and not put out any decorations? You know, like jack o' lanterns and such? It's what we do here. The unwritten rule for kids is that if a house is dark/or no decorations, lights etc., the occupants are either out or not into Halloween. Not everyone wants to give out candy and that's fine.
