OceanWave
Is Driver CPC worth doing now, or left until 2014 when it becomes compulsory? What are your thoughts and where would you go for the training? Somebody told me that prices may increase when it nears the time, due to demand and lack of training companies. OceanWave
Wimpey is right. It is a mandatory thing that all drivers, whether it be LGV or PCV, have to take every 5 years. Most people are not happy about having to do it, but it has to be done in order for drivers to carry on working as a driver.
Training ETL
We are a training company who specialise in LGV and Forklift (and very soon renewable installation training), and we also deliver Driver CPC. Some of our courses can be done through Train to Gain, which means it can be funded as long as you complete an NVQ alongside it. Many drivers are leaving it until the very last minute to complete their 35 hours training, but it's true what Oceanwave says about price incrreases; although there's been no talk of a price increase as yet, it is possible it will happen. There is a lack of training centres that deliver the CPC, so demand will become very high come 2014, and this will cause a type of bottle-neck effect with regards to the amount of people needing training, therefore creating a waiting list and this could put people out of work. I would be happy to talk to anyone a bit further about this if they PM me.
