Ex wife holding passport

Recommended Posts

I noticed it and thought, oh dear, they've been asking the kids to look for them, and putting them in a terrible position, instead of acting like adults.

This supports my previous post, there are 2 sides to every story.

You presuppose that 'acting like adults' is a) possible when the mother won't do so, and b) likely to resolve the situation so the children can have their holiday. What do you envisage has already happened and is likely to happen if the father just asks politely again for the passports?

what would you do? Say "sorry kids actually I don't want you to come on holiday?" Its all very well saying keep the kids out of it but there is no choice here.

We are only hearing one side so thats the side we are commenting on. Saying keep the kids out of it is not advice though as it is impossible based on the facts we have been given.

What makes you think they've been asking the kids to look for them? Maybe the kids decided all by themselves???

what would you suggest the OP do?

Talk to the mother of his children, get to the bottom of why, ask if there is anything he can do that would make her change her mind, make her feel more comfortable about them going. We are obviously missing a lot of information here, and, as I keep saying, only have 1 side to the story.

Passports belong to the state not individuals, she has no right to restrict access to them.

This is true. Passports are the property of the issuing government.

Assuming there is no court order banning foreign travel, it would be legally dodgy holding on to the passports and I'm pretty sure you could force her to pay any losses if the holiday was cancelled.

That and, as another poster mentioned, blame her by telling the kids she won't let them go. That's bound to hassle the cow.

I can't believe you can call someone names who you have no knowledge of, you know nothing about the woman, other than what you've read from the OP.

He doesn't seem to have a very high opinion of women, haven't you read any of his ramblings before? I always get the impression he's a disappointed man ;)
