Smithster
They shall not grow old They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. From Laurence Binyon's poem For the Fallen, written in September 1914 Here's to my great grandfather, Chief Engineer John Ledingham, who was killed when his merchant navy convoy crossing the north Atlantic was attacked by a pack of German U-boats in 1942; and to his brother, Captain James Ledingham, who was killed in action in Broembeck, Belgium in 1917. Their name liveth for evermore
Smithster
I appreciate there already a number of threads on the subject of Remembrance Day, but I wanted a separate space where people can post their own tributes to loved ones and family members who have fallen victim to war. A nice idea. My father, grandfather, uncles, aunt and myself were all soldiers. One uncle was killed in WW2, another was wounded at Dunkirk and my father suffered as a result of his time at Tobruk. I remember 3 of my colleagues who were killed. All decent men and a credit to their country.

harvey19
We also need to remember those who are still living with the physical and mental scars suffered from serving their country.
