NorthernStar
Earlier this evening I put an old washing machine outside ready to get rid of it in the morning, I thought I'd end up having to pay someone to take it away. A couple hours later, after dark I heard a noise and saw some bloke struggling to put it into the back of a van. I don't mind at all as its save me a job, but what on earth would someone want with a knackered old washer?
katei
I always wonder this as broken washing machines are always coming up on Freecycle and appear to be taken very quickly. Presumably they have some scrap value!

tahititwo
I helped a mate put his broken 1 in car, took it to a scrap yard onto weighbridge got tenner for it! then dropped it on rest of scrap. Guess it depends on the current price of scrap tho.

spooky3
Have noticed at least 4 scrap vans going down my road every day. I'm on an estate and almost have a back yard thing. In the summer I was outside having a cigarette and one bloke comes down the gennel and shouts there's a load of stuff here. All there was was my neighbours kids toys, bikes n stuff, nothing old or scrap looking. The bloke had got all the way to picking up a shiny little pink trike before noticing me shaking my head. Funny as...
