Ms Macbeth
Nice hand cream or bubble bath, chocolates, pair of woollen gloves, a boxed miniature with a glass, a nice mug - hows that for starters.

liza D
Asda and Morrisons sell some good DVDs at under £5, I got quiet a few Brad Pitt ones from Asda a £3 each. They also do a good selection of books under that mark. Winters here, how about something to keep them warm, bed-socks, slippers, water-bottle. I guess you just have to know the person and what they are interested in etc. Good luck, I love buying pressys but it takes me forever to pick the right ones. Suffragette1
Evolution in town have some nice mugs, a couple of Cath Kitson-esque ceramic ones. Candles are also a good buy for under a fiver. That bargain book store on the Moor also has some nice stationery.
Plain Talker
For £5.50 (slightly over budget, I know) the co-op have humongous tins of sweets (roses, quality street and moments) .

TKMaxx do quite a range of nice smellies for around the fiver mark, all cheaper than the RRP. The OP could also get a bottle of wine within budget.
