mj.scuba
Nor me, it's a rather facile argument and justification in my view. As I, you and others have pointed out, Versailles which is the biggest tourist attraction near France's capital has not been a royal residence for over 200 years. It's the history which is the main pull and we would still have history without the Windsor clan. Do people flock to Stratford in droves hoping to get a glimpse of Shakespeare? Besides, the royals aren't even in residence in Buck House during the peak tourist season, they're all off at Balmoral. It's also rather facile to make any comparison with France, since they don't have a Royal Family any more, it won't form part of their tourism. Royalty is just part of the wider pomp and pagentry attraction of the UK. Without the Royal Family, would there be a Changing of the Guard, would there be a Trooping the Colour, would the State Opening of Parliament be as grand? And if we did away with stuff like that, why not also be rid of the Lord Mayors Show in London? Before you know it, many things that are readily identifyable with this country would no longer exist, many traditions and things to be rightly proud of as uniquely British, lost. And frankly, for rather trivial reasons.
Bulgarian
Without the Royal Family, would there be a Changing of the Guard, would there be a Trooping the Colour, would the State Opening of Parliament be as grand? yes, why not ? It's not like the royals actually do much at those 3 "events" that someone else couldn't do.

Free energy
Working class people that defend and respect the royal family and are "patriotic" are deluded <REMOVED> who wrongly think that they have some sort of a real stake in the prosperity of this piece of land they just happen to have been born on. TJC1
The royal family and every 'inherited' institution in this land are relying on the working class because they wont ask questions. Just like the same dolt who claimed the royal family are 'value for money' because they go on jolly ups abroad touting for Business.

As for the rest, these silly traditions could still continue but could be modernised.
Suffragette1
I asked my future Father-in-law for his daughters hand in marraige, he said "Tha's had everything else lad, tha might as well av her hand!"
