Ousetunes
Whilst reading the thread about Heeley Swimming Baths, one of the posts brought a rather strange memory into my mind. During my time at Nethergreen Middle School (that's September 1977 thru June 1981) I recall their being a huge collection of paper and cardboard in one particular year. In they boys' playground (which wasn't just for the boys in my days; it was just called that, like the other playground was always referred to as the girls') was a shed. We managed to fill the whole thing with old newspapers and cardboard. There was loads and loads and loads of the stuff. The question here, is: Why? What were we saving for? Was it for the school's own use (maybe the stage in the hall; the gym)? Or was it for something else (another Blue Peter whip-round)? So, anyone who went to NGM during these years - can you remember? ploudtrouser
I also attended NG during this time, and have memories of large quantities of paper in the yard. I am also concerned that I can remember the paper, but not what it was for....
Funke88
I was at Nethergreen from 68 to 73. Distant but great memories. Can't remember any paper or sheds for that matter, but then again I never went in the boys playground
