taxman
Well that's alright then, and there was me thinking we were in a recession and that thousands of people are facing losing their jobs. Silly old sod has had to apologise.

Grandad.Malky
Wednesday, Sep 01, 2010The old have never had it so goodTelegraph: The Boomers' bonanza has left precious little for the rest of us While every generation thinks it has things uniquely bad, today's teenagers have the statistics to back it up. Over the past few decades, young people have been thoroughly ripped off. Those born after Margaret Thatcher's arrival in Downing Street have things unutterably worse than their parents. With houses going so dear, the "jilted generation" are having to spend more of their income on rent than at any time in the past 30 years. And in terms of employment, things aren't much better. Even during the boom years, young people's wages stagnated. Many couldn't even find a stable job in the first place: among those aged between 18 and 24, the jobless rate is nearly one in five. Titanic99
I actually agree with him to an extent. If you are in work and paying a mortgage with a low interest rate, then you are likely to be better off than you have been for a while. Those who are unemployed and looking for work will feel differently and my problem with the Government is that they are punishing those worse off, whilst those reasonably well off are getting away with very little suffering. Cyclone
Well that's alright then, and there was me thinking we were in a recession and that thousands of people are facing losing their jobs. Silly old sod has had to apologise. We haven't been in a recession for about 9 months now. You should try to keep up!
Guest sibon
We haven't been in a recession for about 9 months now. You should try to keep up! We hadn't had a Tory Government for 13 years. It seems that little has changed.
alchresearch
Considering how many people are still blowing their money on luxuries - particularly electrical entertainment, he does have a point.
mj.scuba
He is partly right with his reference to interest rates - I wonder how many people that have no disposable income after the mortgage and bills, could sustain any increase in interest rates without losing their home?
