Guest sibon
The Government are publishing unprecedented details of Whitehall spending. They hope that the general public will scrutinise the data and hold the Civil Service to account. Will you be joining in? Do you care how the Civil Service spend our money? taxman
I'd like to see HMRC spending cut on consultancy led management programmes which involve everybody having to play with sticklebricks, learn Japanese and attend daily whiteboard meetings. Does it mention these things on the HMRC site? Only I can't download whatever silly format they are being published in.

It would be even better if they also published how Capita spend our money.

If you want a laugh have a look at the latest oral evidence from HMRC chief Leslie Strathie given before the Public Accounts Committee She is given a right kicking over the Vodafone stitch up and then has to defend the employment of a new IT chief who was being investigated for fraud. When asked if she'd spoken to the Metropolitan Police before hiring him she said she hadn't but she had asked the person involved himself who denied any wrongdoing...so that was alright then. Reading those minutes was an eye-opener for many employees in HMRC....incredibly she made an even bigger arse of herself the previous time she appeared

Guest sibon
Here's one line pulled from one document: Department DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, Family, NORTH STAFFORDSHIRE PRIMARY CARE TRUST, Date29/10/2010, Expense Type,ROYAL WOLVES HOSP NHS TRUST Expense Area,PUBLIC HEALTH, SupplierROYAL WOLVERHAMPTON HOSPS NHS TR, Transaction Number 2009453, Line Value[£] "38,912.00" From that I gather that on 29 October 2010 the Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust spent £38,912.00 doing something related to Public Health. And the government think people will be able to comment on that? How? It is an outrage.
