harvey19
Wait and see the actual figures and conditions and then we can have a reasoned debate.
studentbob
The only way to ensure that is to own it. Rent, privately or from the council (as will be) and they can at some point kick you out. Why should renting from the council be different than from renting privately? That's the point - it shouldn't be. All rental properties should be controlled by the local authority. studentbob
Because you are only renting a house, a house which is designated as being for the less well off, the ones who are struggling. Improve your situation and expect to move out of that house to make room for someone else. It doesn't seem unreasonable. Where does it say that council houses are designated as being for the less well off? Anyone who lives in Sheffield can register for council housing regardless of income. Cyclone
Where does it say that council houses are designated as being for the less well off? Isn't that the entire point of social housing? Anyone who lives in Sheffield can register for council housing regardless of income. At the moment yes. But hopefully those in need get priority over those who just fancy a cheaper rent. And if that's not the case, well it soon will be won't it, and it should.

So it would be illegal or impossible to buy a house and let it. Shall we call it the soviet state of Yorkshire?
Cyclone
just answer me this could the extra in rent put them back to where they were in the first place ?other than paying more out in rent their circumstances have stayed the same Who knows, no specific figures have been released have they! If well designed, no it won't.

Sheffield Homes (ALMO) is contracted to manage the properties til 2014 when a decision has to be made about their future.
