My last post was in response to your last post Alien, the one in which you used the Bold function to highlight the section of my post where I refer to "ordinary people" constantly dipping into their pockets. Where you posted:- "because they want to"?

None of that had to be done by NASA though did it?

 

I'm all for space exploration, but to justify it with a long list of technological spinoffs like better wings for private jets, microspheres, and a slightly better shoe, isn't a very strong argument for the reason above.

 

And aren't NASA famous for spending thousands of percent over the odds for simple, mass produced things like M3 screws?

 

NASA buy fisher space pens, the Russians send their astronauts up with pencils.

 

NASA develop exotic heat shielding materials, the Chinese use oak planks.

 

Some people just like spending other people's money.
