JFKvsNixon
Our Government is in fact doing it to safeguard the City Banksters Interests. The Irish Banks were and are used as a channel to filter money back to the UK banking system avoiding tax liabilities regulation and scrutiny. It's interesting that you ignore the issue of the British jobs that may be at stake.
Bedders
If you are of a communist persuasion (and i know a lot are in South Yorks).....perhaps this is the way? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/8155653/Eric-Cantonas-bank-protest-becomes-internet-hit.html
BritPat
It's interesting that you ignore the issue of the British jobs that may be at stake. I haven't ignored anything, merely pointed out the reason for the loan. If HMG really want to spend money to minimize job losses they wouldn't be making spending cuts and sacking people would they? Kevski35
The reason for the loan is because Alistiar Darling signed a treaty with the EU that any monies loaned by the EU to other member states to prop up ailing economies, Britian has to stump up 1/8th of this total regardless of wether we can afford it or not. This is a legally binding treaty that runs untill 2013. Nu labour did a great job of signing up for treaties left right and centre, meaning brussels are now our masters. The same reason why why we had to swallow a 2.9% increase in EU budget as again this was a legal minmum agreed while Labour was in office.

Stormy
A slightly tongue in cheek view of the bail out affair, but interesting all the same :
pinner
so the condems are going to do the decent thing in 2013 and dont sign up to anymore of this ? Nah- they're in thrall to the hated EU too. The only anti-EU-membership are EDL/BNP (ugh and ugh, respectively!) and UKIP. So I know for which one I'll be voting!
