mrswentworth
Just moved 'home' to Crookes after living out of the City for a few years (work related). Would love to have ten years worth of Sheffield and in particular, Crookes goss, changes etc. Also - does anyone share a memory that someone hanged themselves in the shop that is now the dry cleaners, going back twenty plus years? I don't know why I know this - but no-one else seems to! Look forward to your comments! X

olilew
i think it was the guy that owned the shop called 'Ballins' that hung himself
Elmambo
Do you mean the old Churchill's shop, the one near Baxters ? If so you may be getting confused with the Chinese Laundry murder which was in that block. The new shop is in comparatively modern premises. Mr. Ballin, sadly did commit suicide, but via the gas oven.

Elmambo
I was referring to old Mr. Ballin, who lived behind the shop, not Maurice his son.
