*Wallace*
Sounds dramatic but i've heard people on tv news programs sayng if there is a WW3 it most likely will come from North Korea or Iran. Now North Korea has started shelling the South will this escalate ? Japan is getting jittery already and has told the armed forces to expect "any" eventuality.Whatever it ain't good news.
Jabberwocky
An exchange of nukes in inevitable at some point in our history I reckon- Back in the 80s Ronny Reagan even suggested that a limited nuclear war in Europe might clear the air a bit and relieve tensions between east and west. The question is will we learn from it? Will we collectively look at the devastated citys and say `Never again!` or will we wait for 70 or so years and start it up all over again? Im not sure if this current tension will result in all out nuclear war but then Im no expert.

HeadingNorth
North Korea deciding to go nuclear could not cause a global catastrophe; they only half have a dozen warheads, if that. It would, of course, still be a major disaster for whichever cities they hit - South Korea and Japan would be likely targets - and North Korea itself would get wiped from the map, but there's no reason to believe it would escalate beyond that. China isn't mad enough to launch nuclear strikes, even though Kim Jong-Il and his families just might be.
JFKvsNixon
China isn't mad enough to launch nuclear strikes, even though Kim Jong-Il and his families just might be. It depends, your talking about a country on their border. How would the USA feel if China Nuked Mexico, irrespective of whether Mexico deserved it or not. You have to remember that the Chinese leaders think and act like a superpower, again irrespective of whether they are or not, and it's the pride that comes with the superpower aspirations that can lead to bad decisions being made. spooky3
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomic_bombings_of_Hiroshima_and_Nagasaki Within the first two to four months of the bombings, the acute effects killed 90,000–166,000 people in Hiroshima and 60,000–80,000 in Nagasaki, with roughly half of the deaths in each city occurring on the first day. Say the average age was 30. That's between 4,500,000 and 7,380,000 years worth of life. Let's say they have enough for 6, so times that by three, then include the population of N Korea at 24,051,218, your talking of 762,000 deaths. Madness... As China is North Korea's bodyguard, would the USA get involved militarily? I don't think it will go nuclear, Kim Jong-il didn't spend all the effort becoming dictator just to throw it all away in a nuclear war.
Mister Ed
There has not been a world war since nuclear devices were dropped on Japan about 70 years ago. I thus think that all we need to do not is pick somewhere that we do not like and drop one on that. Problem solved for 70 more years.
