behk11
Hi all, I've recently traced my family tree into Sheffield at 1871 when it appears that I have ancestors who were "master and matron of the orphanage". They had 10 orphans living with them. The address was Baker's Yard, Peacroft. As I understand it's was near modern day Tenter Street and I think Peacroft is now Solley Street. I know there was a workhouse close by but if anyone could offer more information it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
skippy_54
Hi, My family lived at Peacroft in the 1840's, there was a large Irish community there. I found most of my inofmatoin and maps of the area at Sheffield records online, there are some photo's of Peacroft on Picture Sheffield.
