Mecky
It seems really obvious to me that you're more likely to fall in love with someone who shares the same ideals as you do. Really, I wonder where the saying, "Opposites attract," comes from then?
Halibut
But to adress the OP, I certainly wouldn't admit to having voted conservative because I never have and never will. I think the Conversative party and it's values are fundamentally wrong, deeply flawed and thoroughly detestable.
shortcrust
No you didn't and nor did I. Read like you did to me..... Here's something of interest: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-11837538 How is this relevant?
Halibut
Really, I wonder where the saying, "Opposites attract," comes from then? Magnetism? Seriously - I'm not suggesting that it's true of everyone, I'm just reflecting on my own experience. I have one or two acquaintances, believe it or not, with rather right wing views. Good people to know in other ways, yeah, but I avoid getting into political discussion and they'll never be close.
Suffragette1
Really, I wonder where the saying, "Opposites attract," comes from then? Sexual chemistry, however that in itself is not enough to sustain a relationship long-term. If you don't have some common ground, especially when kids come along, then the relationship will be doomed.
chimay
I try not discuss politics with my friends down here as I suspect most of them vote ****

That's right enough Suffy - I've had plenty of fun based on sexual chemistry but the really good stuff starts when you find someone who you can love and love being with on foundations much stronger than mere ephemeral lust... BananaSplit
I didn't vote Tory and neither did my friend. We both voted Lib Dem, yet we had a conversation in the run up to the elections as to who we thought Nick Clegg would 'allie' with. She was convinced he would go one way; I thought the other. One of us is happy; one of us isn't!
Magilla
... Would you admit to having voted, or would vote, Conservative? I don't see how anyones decision on who to vote for would effect a real friendship unless your friend isn't very friendly and is somewhat small minded. llamatron
So you have no friends then because the way I see it, people who vote Tory only have competitors? you see it wrong.
