Outdoor PE in cold weather

When do you think it is too cold for small children to do outdoor PE? Yesterday my child's class had to do it when it was 0 degrees with a wind chill of -3 to -5 degrees.Do you agree that this is too cold to be outside dressed only in leggings and a sweatshirt?

We had to do it in little shorts & T shirt when I was at school - needless to say many of us used to wag it!!!

we did cross country in all weathers back in the 60s-70s...we was hard as nails then

Personally I think its too cold. From my own personal experience, I hated having P.E when it was freezing. Remember even those freezing break times, when we had to spend outside during 'playtime' and seeing the teachers in the warm staff rooms drinking hot cups of tea.

next you'll be complaining they shouldn't be allowed to do it in the sun because they might get a sunburn.

Leggins and sweatshirts? Wish we could've worn that for PE when I was at school, sound much warmer than the white polo neck t shirt and delightful bottle green pleated skirt with matching granny pants!

No wonders kids are soft these days.

 

How about a small pair of black shorts and a plain white t shirt on a field on the hills of Stocksbridge, its about time kids manned up a bit.

 

If its a PE (physical education) the kids should be running round being active and warm enough.

 

I really have heard it all now!!!
