Millhouses Workhouse

My grandmother was born in Millhouses Workhouse in 1888 and I would appreciate any information about this institution. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

I don't know anything about it but was it located next to what is the cricket pitch now?

 

There are some really old buildings there that look like barns and I always wondered what they were.

After a life time reading local history, can't say I have ever seen mention of a Workhouse at Millhouses.

The old buildings stood at the bottom end of the park, once belonged to the mill at that location. The cricket ground was once the site of the mill dam.

I could be wrong and would love correcting if so and told something I was unaware of.

Can't say that I have ever heard of it either after years of researching family and local history.

The Union workhouse which would cover Millhouses was Ecclesall Bierlow later known as Nether Edge Hospital.

 

If you apply for the birth certificate it would give you her address.

Thank you for your replies. My thread was started whilst sitting at my computer in a motel on the M1 so I was, to some extent, working from memory. My family tree information tells me that it was the Albion Workhouse, Millhouses, Sheffield. Does this help? Thanks.

Have you found her on the 1891 Census, perhaps she was still there then
