Chris M
Was stood waiting for the bus at Broomhill this morning and saw that the old cinema was to let . What was the name of the cinema ? I remember that in an article about Joe Cocker he rehearsed there at times . Cheers Chris
Fareast
Chris M. I'm miles from being an authority on Sheffield's old cinemas but I can't remember one at what is generally called , " Broomhill" ? Can you give a bit more info. on location ? I'm not being pedantic on the names of exact locations because you may be right ; maybe there was one at Broomhill ?
muddycoffee
All You Need is to view the lost cinemas of sheffield website, which sows you exactly what you are looking for and pictures for good measure. Cinema At Crookes perhaps?

Chris M
Yes that's the one. I am assuming it was a Cinema or Theatre of some sort in the past.
Tony
No, it was a Rolls Royce car showroom. It may not have been built as that, but I understand that it was at one point. It's certainly never been a cinema.
docmel
Is this the building on Peel Street? If so, then I worked there in 1973 when it belonged to Kennings - and as menitoned in a previous post it was a Rolls Royce garage
Chris M
The building is on Ashgate Road and the design of the place looks like a cinema/theatre. I was looking for a name on the building that may have given a clue . There is a dragon like design on the top. The fact that Cocker rehearsed there also made me think it was a former cinema. Although Joe could have rehearsed in a garden shed !!
