Number Six
Panda 4x4 with a set of these bad boys - light weight so it won't sink, and with those on it will have a really light footprint. Loads of traction - and most importantly lots of ground clearance. I could move my car quite easily on Wednesday, I only got stuck because the wall of snow it made for too heavy - ground clearance is key.
alchresearch
just get yourself a suzuki jimny or the older version i think its a sj 480 ( which you can get from 1ltr, 1.3 and 1.6 ltr) or something similar, as long as its 4 wheel drive and well maintained you should be ok but remember just because its a 4x4 its not invincible Samurai or the SJ410 (1L) or 413 (1.3L). Great little beasts.

Cyclone
Is the op serious about buying a car which will cope well in weather we suffer for 2 or 3 weeks a year?
GrannyGranny
Depends if you want to use it all year round. the SJ is pretty basic and slow/noisey. Great for getting through bad conditions but for the remaining 50 weeks of the years its not ideal. Depending on your budget any of the 'soft' roaders will be ok as long as they have the ground clearance. My cousin's RAV4 has been excellent. Its managed to tackle the worst conditions in Stannington.
