Swan_Vesta
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-11901750 I'm sure that forumers will join me in voicing my condolence to the kin of these unfortunate souls. To do a difficult job, to try and back up your colleagues and to die in an attempt in assisting them is tragic beyond belief.

andygardener
RIP to the fallen. Let's hope none of us here get stuck in a fire of that magnitude, the heat level and pace of spread don't bear thinking about.

Tyranna
This is terrible; Heard on todays news on Radio 4 that a British helicopter was heading from Cyprus to help with the rescue effort. Turkey have also volunteered help (Much appreciated, in spite of the aid ships from there for Palestinians which were attacked by Israel.) As someone with relatives in Israel (Although they are in the South of the country), the only thing I can hope is that a tragedy like this can help bring all the normally confrojntational nations in this part of the world together in a spirit of cooperation. I wouldn't be surprised if Israel's premier Netanyahu faces some questions about forest fire safety, particularly in an area close to the high security risk of the northern borders; in some ways it appears to be similar to the risks for people living and working near that Indonesian volcano which blew a couple of months back... Jason Bourne
Are these the same Israelis who didn't hesitate in dropping cluster bombs and white phosphorous on Lebanese and Palestinian civilians respectively a few years ago? Maybe they're just better at starting fires than putting them out. x
