The only John Thirkell listed in South Yorkshire is a John C. Thirkell who lives near Doncaster. The births index confirms that a John C. Thirkell was born in the Don Valley district in 1953; he evidently married Mary S.B. Hardie in 1973. I could find no John Thirkell born or living in Sheffield.
