koenigsinger
Dear Drivers, perhaps some of you might not have got stuck if you hadnt thought yourselves invincible in the deteriorating conditions earlier in the week, causing public transport to slow down and in some cases grind to a halt, despite numerous messages of advice from the highways agency and the police. if the road is passable, we hear you approaching and you dont attempt to force us into the snowbank, we pedestrians will happily step to one side and let you pass unencumbered. Thank you.
HeadingNorth
It is only the main routes and motorways that get gritted. Our side road was gritted this morning, right after the plough had been down it.

You will, and I will, but some don't. There are ignorant pedestrians, as well as ignorant drivers.
danot
As a non-car owner, my council tax pays for gritting of the roads, so I'm gonna walk on them whether motorists like it or not. x We pay road tax in addition to council tax. Pageant
We pay road tax in addition to council tax. And we subsidise the buses that we do not use!

danot
And we subsidise the buses that we do not use!Unless you're using public transport you have no reason to be on the road.
garrence
Having spent the day shoveling ice from the road, that's where I'm gonna walk
garrence
Unless you're using public transport you have no reason to be on the road. Actually that's utter nonsense. Dangerous nonsense. Vehicles have no priority over any other road users, pedestrians included.
