Enough of the UK

Recommended Posts

I genuinely can't see how you'd put the UK above France? Based on what?
Erm...living in both countries for significantly long enough periods to have an informed opinion about the matter? :P

ALL official statistics put the France way above the UK for everything.
Don't know about you, but I don't particularly care about what a statistician could possibly tell me about facets of life in a country, when I have been experiencing these facets on a daily basis in that country for years...

No not really- I had a vague diagnosis of IBS. My life is hell at the moment- I'm 27 and unable to do anything without being in chronic pain, having chronic nausea, weakness etc... I have so many weird symptoms. And yet they just keep signing me off work ( years now) with no real answers.

They've truly given up but I genuinely feel they haven't tried anywhere near hard enough.

Have you seen a bowel specialist? Had a barium scan, colonoscopy our other related tests?

If not then demand to see the specialist. It could be Ibs, or it could be any number of other things like crohn's disease or even cancer.

I hear you- but most countries have problems. France has less though, it's a bigger country, with tons of space and clear good quality roads. Good food, cost of living is much cheaper, and the health system is much better!

you keep lobbying about how much better the french system is how about you go back to France and get treated over there.

It's only based on your experience then- statistics are based on many things and many folks.

Out of interest, what does the UK do better than France in your eyes?

good for you, plenty more have done the same and I will be joining them too one day.
I'd be off to Cyprus tommorow if the financial situation was better.

We did a trial move in 2008 but it was just as the world finance system was going into melt down, luckily we only went on a trial rental and were able to come back, thousands are not so lucky.

I swanned off over 40 years ago, and have never regretted it. I think it was a better country then.

It was a better world then. We've had the best the world has to offer, it's either more of the same or downhill from here.

Perhaps you could change your GP. It sounds like the problems are with the GP's that have been treating you. Not all are the same to be honest. Goodness knows why some are in the job  why? Others & most I would say is because they care & have compassion in helping patients & supporting them in their good times & bad times. Don't let your experience put you off. The Walk In Centre in town is really good. Dr Khan who works their is a brilliant GP, understanding, patient & supportive.

I went there recently, the ex pat community seems to consist mostly of ex wide-boy plumbers. It's weird to go into a foreign bar and find it to be much like the pub you wouldn't go in in your mining village.
