Written constitutions have a habit of making countries look like dicks, see the American constituion banging on about the unvioable equality of man freedom etc etc written by a bunch of rich white slaveowners whose glorious message was so powerful that nearly a century later their ancestors had a huge and bloody civil war to decide whether owning human beings was a good idea or a bad idea. At least they got rid of the mad Hanovarian George the Third and paying taxes to a bunch of rich aristos thousands of miles away without any rights of say in the British parliament. Everyone has to pay taxes to any government irrespective of their political persuasion. What about paying for two jags and all the other expenses... all the over budget buildings, quangos, etc, etc... Every government wastes money, and there's always 3 benches and they all get paid, as do the EU one's too. It doesn't matter who's in power for that argument! But at least the good people of South Yorkshire chose to give their hard earned to that bunch of self-serving wasters. I was merely picking up on Harleymans point about representation.....not trying to make a point in favour of Labour. when they were in power the folks down here in the home counties were similarly unrepresented. The british government was very uncompromising about that and to be fair we got what we deserved though it's also true that the only reason the whole thing stopped is because the feeling at home was that it was wrong to fight people who were basically our own, otherwise thing's would have been rather different. And replaced it with paying taxes to a bunch of white slave owning aristos in the americas with no more "freedom" added to anyone, especially the slaves, other than the cabal of landowners that previously ran the US franchise for Britain. Which is why the us constituition is so embarassing and laughable. Hence we prefer not to have one, as they could make us look as bigger hypocritical tossers as the Americans.
