top4718
I have a VW Passat and its so annoying that the 12volt supply (old cig lighter) only works when you have the ignition on!!! Its useless when you need to charge sat navs or handsfree kits. Whats the point of this set up, never had it on vehicles before.
dosxuk
So you don't drain the battery by leaving something plugged in?

Or stop and use a payphone? You have a cornucopia of modern technology at your disposal and yet you moan because someone has built a failsafe into your car. top4718
I sometimes travel over a number of days. I have a map but prefer to use sat nav/mobile phone. When has a 12v supply been unsafe.

steelhead4
Any competent auto electrician can sort you out with a 12 feed that is not switched by the ignition if you need it.
