There's lots of opinion in there but precious little proof. Whether it was legal or illegal is a matter of debate and has never been put before a court. Hindsight tells us the reasons for going to war weren't true but that doesn't mean they didn't believe the intelligence reports they were getting. The world was already a dangerous place before it happened and you don't have a crystal ball which tell you it would have been any safer if Iraq hadn't happened, that's just your opinion. And that's why Blair isn't in jail. Your argument is based on your personal feelings and beliefs in motivation rather than actual evidence to back them up. Yes I think this is just a ploy to put it to bed for good, just so no one in the future can say it wasn't a thorough investigation, given the wikileaks about protecting the US. Because its come out that we would be 'looking out for their interests' some may think that its been a fudge of an inquiry if we don't go back to Blair with something from the closed doors questioning of Americans. They will talk tough, with no substance in the questions, Blair will give a more in-depth apology and say he had to do it, it was in the world interest bla bla bla , and then he will feel its ok to move back to the UK with his Millions safe in the knowledge its all over bar the spending. You might be entirely correct in all of them but without proof it's meaningless. The world is Definitely NOT safer since the Iraq war. And don't we know it. For all that Sadam was he was still a check piece to Iran, as the US intended, regardless of if he was free of his strings. Terrorism went global, we ended up neglecting Afghanistan where the real villains fled too and now we have that mess to clean up for years to come. America has lost all respect as a super power and is now considered a bully state like any other after loosing its moral high ground. Its all gone to **** and it happened when Bush and Blair decided to go on a crusade to show the towel heads who was boss. Safe ? I wish. Personal feeling aside they did not have a UN mandate to invade, they went into it on a bunch of lies. History will sort it out but while ever these people are on the scene it will always get swept under the rug while people are still dying for it.
