Saffy
I only took a little look at the news reporting of the "demonstration" last night ... the ones at the front, you could tell they were obviously out there to cause trouble. Wearing hard hats and covered faces ... they weren't students protesting against fee upgrades .. don't tar all students with the same brush. robwillow
Why would a violent non-representative section of a rabble make you lose respect for students and what does it alter in the debate against raising fees? It was of course wrong (disgraceful even as you say), and actually I feel sorry for Charles and Camilla who must have been genuinely afraid. I didn't say l had lost respect for students, l don't have much of an opinion on students anyway, l said l was a supporter of the protest against raising tuition fees. Causing damage, fighting with police and making people fearful is usually blamed on football fans not "peaceful protests". Basically if anyone knows who these criminals are they should turn them in so that the protest isn't hijacked by "rent an anarchist" who think it's ok to damage, riot and target shops and the establishment. Leave this type of protest to the European mobs not in Blighty thanks!!
hard2miss
You know someone is scared when they do the 'scream' face like Camilla did. I bet she thought she was ambushed by Diana sympathisers.
billo
I don't like what happened but I must say that peaceful protest will just get ignored by government. If you remember the poll tax riots you should know that if it had been peaceful protest we would still be paying poll tax now. So sometimes people have to go to the extremes to get the government to back down.

Yes but it's not the genuine protesters that usually do it....they get the blame but you will find it's the crazies that take over and totally detract from the original protest. If these idiots want to damage stuff and you think that sometimes it needs to be done, what would you do if you or a member of your family got caught up in a riot or it was your home or business that was wrecked? You would think differently l bet!
