Steam train in garden on Barncliffe Crescent.

This is going back some years....to the 1970's to mid 1980's.

mikeybaby72 (my partner) used to live on Barncliffe Crescent....he remembers with fondness a man who lived some few doors up (mb72 lived at 65).

This man was called Ken Lawken...and in his garden he had railway tracks for a train. Not the ordinary little trains of an OO gauge....but a sit and ride on steam train that fascinated all the local children....mb72 included.

Ken was a bit like a local Fred Dibnah...with lots of stuff in his garage that were steam power related....he had a fixed steam engine on a workbench and one he was always working on that he would run on track around the garden and he attached a couple of sit on carriages and the local children would get rides around the garden.

mb72 also remembers that Ken had his own Electric Company...as in industrial electrics.

Does anyone remember Ken...or the steam train. :)
