rubydazzler
You go first. I already know about mine, so I'd be interested to learn about the Christmas tradtions of families in SW London.

rubydazzler
My preparations are slightly different. The Yule wreath goes on the door. It's made of greenery including holly and mistletoe, one to ward off evil spirits that might try to enter the home in the cold and dark of winter and the other for fertility and abundance in the coming year. The rest of the house is trimmed with greenery and other decorations. Later the Yule log is brought in, symbolic in the form of a cake, and the tree is decorated on the shortest day. Whilst doing all these things, we focus our thoughts on family and friends, the fauna and flora of the planet and hope for a good year in prospect. A small libation or two might be consumed during these preparations and a mince pie or several.
