What club night is Sheffield missing?

I think they would still struggle - we (Cargo/UG) have had djs and artists from labels like Cocoon, Minus, Crosstown Rebels, Cadenza and still found it hard - hence we are not running for the foreseeable future.

The maths just do not add up anymore. The cost of putting on nights with decent acts, against footfall and a reasonable door entry fees = you run at a loss and is unsustainable to do monthly events.

With the smaller venues I think the trick is to still charge the entry fee a larger venue would as long as there aren't actually larger venues catering for the same crowd as you. If you've got a DJ booked that enough people genuinely want to see then you can push your price to £7/8 without adversely affecting the numbers through your door meaning you can bring down your break even point to something more workable.

I've never understood the mentality of Sheffielders. They complain that there are no specialist club nights. Then when people put them on they expect to still only pay £2/3 to get in.

If you want World renowned acts who charge top dollar it is going to cost money to go and see.

While promoters might not be in it to make money they certainly can't afford to lose it on a regular basis.

Used to love Urban Gorilla but something changed there at some point...

Metropolis at Plug was also great.

DQ used to put on some good nights. Seems that long ago I've forgotten what they were called!

Haven't been properly out in Sheffield for ages so I wouldn't actually know what's on :hihi:
