Social housing, new affordable rents, but only if they go up.

Recommended Posts

Hi

council houses are 20-30% at least cheaper than a private rent and i might ad that they are better built and bigger than the private ones, but the point i am making is if they up the rents 20-30% i dont think we would need a rise in council tax for a few years with the income that would generate i call that a subsidy.

It depends where they are. Council and housing association rents have been rising above inflation for years. The majority of private sector housing has been rising above inflation for years too, often even faster than the social rented sector.

By rights, council rents should be reduced (relative to inflation).

And private rents and house prices should be crashed down to a sensible level too.
