That quote was by Groundskeeper Willie from the Simpsons. And is not a particularly accurate description of a nation who lost 5.5 million men in ww1,over 76% of their forces. The British Empire forces lost 36%. Anyone who has been to France cannot help but be moved by the war memorials in every town and village bearing surnames repeated over and over,recording the loss of whole families of brothers,fathers and uncles.
