chem1st
There's a Panorama programme looking at the role of the banking sector on in about 20 minutes or so on BBC1 Aye, perhaps we can quantify the amount of blatant theft, and from there we can then seize assets and punish accordingly. danny11
no good crying about it, its not their fault you done crap at school and have a crap job! you could have been a banker if you were intelligent enough to get a decent job, so its no good crying about it now

Nagel
Bankers only get bonuses if they have made a good profit for their companies. The system is instigated by the companies they work for to attract the best people for the job. Best people in this case means the people who can produce the best profit for the bank. That's why they hire them. The bonuses that the banks pay are taken out of their operating profit. They would otherwise pay it to their shareholders as part of their dividend. The banks and their shareholders recognise that the money is best paid to their employees as bonuses. There's no other solution under capitalism. If you know another solution please tell me what it is. PS - I'm not saying that capitalism is the best way
ukjazzer
"no good crying about it, its not their fault you done crap at school and have a crap job! you could have been a banker if you were intelligent enough to get a decent job, so its no good crying about it now" er...........actually I am retired, after working in london for many years, live in a nice house and have no money worries. just don't like injustice and think that for the bankers who got this country into this mess we are now in to be drawing massive bonuses is a complete disgrace ! hard2miss
Just imagine what they were pulling before the public outrage about it ! 7 billion and they have tightened their belts at this. Actually its more like savings from the refusal to lend capitol to small businesses and mortgage borrowers. The only thing you can be sure of is that those with money won't be in a hurry to fix it because they are the very people they will be socialising with and sucking up to. I don't think Dave is going to be in a hurry to deny anyone their bonus
dell12
Bankers only get bonuses if they have made a good profit for their companies. Unfortunately that isn't the case. Bonuses are often paid before results are announced.
Mister M
no good crying about it, its not their fault you done crap at school and have a crap job! you could have been a banker if you were intelligent enough to get a decent job, so its no good crying about it now Judging by the programme & what I've read, intelligence isn't the most helpful attribute for being an investment banker. Greed & lack of conscience are nearer the mark. Just because someone makes a criticism of banking practices, doesn't make them jealous. Who would want to be responsible for the collapse of the economy & the consequent loss of millions of jobs? Don't judge others by your own standards!
